What happens when you spend your early teens in a library? Well, because you’re a bit of a dreamer, you head to the sci-fi section and start reading mind-boggling stories about aliens, spaceships, time travel, and tons of other stuff. Also, girls ignore you.
Now I’m much older, I wrote a book of my own and I did get the girl. So there.
I did a bunch of other things in the meantime. I read even more books. I became a dad. I became an artist and got some shows going a bit everywhere in the world. I learned a lot about loads of subjects, from how to teach photography to disabled youngsters to playing badminton, and to be careful not to mix up water pipes so you don’t end up with hot water in your toilet when you try your hand at plumbing.
I got the idea for a book when I was a teenager, many years ago. I wrote it, and then I realised that I was constantly referencing events that had happened in the past. This led me to the decision to write how the events in the second book came to be. So in a way, I wrote the sequel first and what I’m offering you today is the prequel. I hope you enjoy it. With a bit of luck, one day you’ll read the sequel. The first book I wrote. Whatever.
